Lenten Discipleship Offerings
This Lent, Worthington UMC will offer two ways to deepen your relationship with Christ and connect with others.
Sunday Mornings at 9 am in the Browning Lounge (right next to Potter Chapel), we will be reading and discussing the book Savior: What the Bible Says About the Cross by Rev. Magrey DeVega. This study will explore what we mean when we say “Jesus saves,” and offer different models for understanding the meaning of the cross. Copies of the book are available in the office, with a recommended donation of $16 to reimburse the cost of the book. The class will begin on February 26 and will end after April 2.
Monday Evenings at 7 pm on Zoom, Dom will be leading a Foundry Group. Foundry Groups are based on the earliest form of Methodist ministry, wherein small groups would gather for spiritual support as they sought to live faithfully. One participant in the pilot program launched last fall described their Foundry Group as “a place where you can be honest about your journey with God.” Another wrote, “ultimately, it is a group that develops trust and deepens relationships.” Anyone is welcome to attend the Foundry Group, though we ask that participants commit to attending most of the sessions. The conversations will take place beginning February 27 and will end after April 3.
Wednesday afternoons at 1 pm in the Conference Room, Lou will be offering either an additional book discussion or an additional Foundry Group, depending on interest from the congregation.
To sign-up for any (or all!) of these offerings, please sign up at this link (Lent sign-up), by visiting the church office, or by contacting the church and sharing which offerings you’d like to attend.
