“Just Mercy” viewing and discussion
“Just Mercy” tells the true story of lawyer Bryan Stevenson as he appeals the 1988 murder conviction of an innocent Black man, Walter McMillian. It is based on Stevenson’s book “Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption”.
While this movie made it’s debut in 2019, it is seeing a revival of sorts as we take to the streets to protest for the lives of those unjustly killed, such as George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.
In a push for people to become more educated about systemic racism in our country, many streaming sites have currently made this film free to view. A full list of free viewing options can be found at https://www.justmercyfilm.com/.
Please take the time to watch this incredible movie or read the book. Then join us on Sunday, June 28 at 6:00 pm to discuss it. We will meet in person or by Zoom (details to follow later).
Quick note for parents: this film is rated PG-13 for “thematic content including some racial epithets”.
