Dear Church Family, As we look forward to 2023, WUMC has a tremendous opportunity to count our blessings and renew our joy as a church family. When joining the United Methodist Church each of us took a vow to participate faithfully in the church’s life and ministries through our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. Having come through 2 ½ years of significant challenge, we are poised to move forward together as we rediscover and renew ourselves in the joy of God’s presence, the joy of giving and serving, and the joy of being in mission together. This is a time of hope! In 2023, Worthington UMC will offer more ways to renew and deepen our prayer and study life through learning and togetherness. We have been so blessed to be able to return to services in person and to welcome those near and far through technology. Let’s renew our presence on Sunday morning and every day by being joyful participants in the ministries and mission of the church and by being present in the community to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors. With gratitude, we share that the generosity of this congregation has been overwhelming. We are recovering from the losses of the pandemic and therefore growing in our ability to reach out to those poor and marginalized persons within our community. May a renewed commitment to giving further our vision of being a mission-driven church! Because the Gospel has always challenged the church to become more aware and involved with those in need, both locally and in the world, Worthington UMC is committed to being a beacon of God’s love, healing and grace. Let us renew our focus on serving and expanding our service mission through hands-on outreach by passionate volunteers. There is great joy in making a difference. While WUMC has no corner on hope, we do have this corner in Worthington in which we can make hope real! A most joyful renewal of spirit can come with a renewed commitment to the service of God, the community, and each other. Come out and find new hope. Commitment Sunday is October 30. The volunteer opportunities are detailed in this booklet and instructions are on the following pages. If you are in worship that day, you will be able to deliver your commitments in person. Otherwise, they may be mailed or completed on-line, also available at the link provided. Please let prayer lead you as you determine how your gifts, talents, energy and generosity can be used to make a difference in the world. In doing so, may you find the blessing of renewal. In ministry with you, Lou Dom Ashley Cal
