Dear Worthington Church Family,
The Stewardship Team is excited to introduce our Annual Generosity Campaign, “Lord, We Are Able.” The campaign will begin on Sunday, October 8 and conclude with Commitment Sunday on October 29.
During these four weeks, we will rediscover our “why!”
We know what a disciple does:
Participates in Worship
Commits to spiritual practices
Is part of a community
Is generous and serves
Is seeking to be Christ-like
And is helping others to become disciples who change the world.
These are all fabulous ways to participate in the life of the church, but that’s not “why” we are doing those things. And the “why” makes all the difference.
Adam Hamilton, Lead Pastor at the Church of the Resurrection, says: “Isn’t the goal of every church, of every pastor, of every disciple to help people find the joy and contentment of the abundant life that Christ has promised? Not abundance defined by things, but by purpose and meaning.”
We hunger for those things. Rediscovering our “why” is essential.
We will explore our “why” in the study of Ephesians 3:18-21:
I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

Ways to Give at Worthington UMC
Lord, we are able!
Our church is a vibrant, generous community of worship, and we are dedicated to sharing good works and why we love Jesus. What missions call you to action? Why do they do that? What does your faith compel you to do?
In celebrating the presence of God in our lives, we are able to incite joy and hope in others. Able to bring our light, our grace, and our faith to the world. That power working within each of us at Worthington UMC can accomplish abundantly more than any of us can even imagine.
It is the time of year to identify the commitments we will make to the church and to each other for 2024. And this year, the stewardship team is asking the congregation to dedicate our time, talent, gifts, prayer, and presence in a different way.
This generosity season, we invite you not only to prayerfully consider how you might give of your financial resources, but also how you’ll give through time and service. If you’d like to be connected with one of the many folks in our church who are leading the way in fellowship, outreach, and service, contact Pastor Dom at dominic@worthingtonumc.com
Also, thank you as always for thoughtfully praying on your financial commitments to the church with the same joy that our gifts inspire. You can find both an online and printable Commitment Form in the above links. Please submit online or bring in the completed form to services on Commitment Sunday, October 29, or feel free to mail it or drop it off in the office with full confidentiality.
And finally, I encourage you to consider arranging for regular or automatic donation through the Church website or through your bank. Year after year, this has done the most to help us meet our monthly financial obligations as a congregation. Ask your bank how to set up automatic withdrawal (sometimes called ACH) or see the guidance for other methods of delivery outlined on the next page.
Now is the time to be brave if you’ve been hesitant. Now is the moment you can pledge yourself to share your light and the light of God with everyone else. Do what you love or try something new and do it because there is joy in doing it with everyone around you today in the congregation and in the community.
Thank you for your joy. And for coming into this process with open eyes and an open heart.
Sincerely
Rob Kidder
