Good Friday Worship Resources for Home

Good Friday is our next focus in the trio of services that burst into the resurrection celebration of Easter. This gathering of items to assist you in a family/home worship is an adaptation of materials from Ministry Matters. As you begin this service, place a cross – necklace, picture, drawing, whatever –where everyone can see it. And please enjoy the music and scripture lessons online this week to help us all journey through Holy Week.

An Opening Prayer:

Almighty God, look with loving mercy on your family,
for whom our Lord Jesus Christ was willing to be betrayed,
and to be given over to the hands of sinners,
and to suffer death on the cross;
who now lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, forever and ever. Amen.

The Bidding Prayer
A brief silence follows each intercession.
We pray for the church throughout the world. . .
we pray for our bishop, our pastors, and all servants of the church. . .
we pray for those preparing for baptism. . .
we pray for the Jewish people, the first to hear the word of God. . .
we pray for those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. . .
we pray for those who do not believe in God. . .
we pray for God’s creation. . .
we pray for those who serve in public office. . .
we pray for those in any need. . .
we pray for all afflicted by the coronavirus. . .
and we pray for all dying separated from the ones they love, and their loved ones,
Finally, we pray:
Our Father/Mother/Parent in heaven, hallowed be Thy name,
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, and deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

Conclude with these words: We adore you, Christ, and we bless you.
By your holy cross you have redeemed the world. Amen.
